Some mighty fine looking clouds out there this morning. The one right behind the tree is a lenticular, formed when moist air rises, then falls as it flows smoothly past.
I saw pretty much the same kind of cloud at noon time from close to where this was taken. It was lenticular, dark grey with scud below. I thought it was associated with the passing expected cold front for today, but you saw the same thing almost six hours before.
